This is a very basic guacamole recipe — simple, no frills, and very easy to make. Whip up a batch as an appetizer or an add-in for any taco.

    • Author: Emily Hanka
    • Prep Time: 5 minutes
    • Cook Time: 0 minutes
    • Total Time: 5 minutes
    • Yield: 4–6 servings 1x

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 2 large or 4 small avocados, peeled, pitted and roughly chopped
    • ½ small red onion, finely diced
    • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
    • Handful of cilantro, finely chopped
    • 2 tablespoons lime juice, from about 1 lime
    • Kosher salt and black pepper

    Instructions

    1. Place the chopped avocados in a medium bowl and season with a pinch of salt. Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency (I like mine a little bit chunky).
    2. Add the onion, jalapeño, cilantro and lime juice. Stir together and adjust seasonings to taste. Serve immediately.
